Man pumping gas at Cleveland gas station gets attacked from behind, car stolen

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A robber attacked a 54-year-old man pumping gas at a West Boulevard gas station and stole his car, police reports say.

The attack happened about 12:15 a.m. Saturday at the BP gas station on West Boulevard and Lorain Avenue. No arrests have been made.

The man told police he paid for cigarettes and gas and went to the gas pump. He said he noticed a man in a white T-shirt standing near the gas station entrance.

The man started pumping his gas when the man walked up behind him and hit him in the face with a hard object, according to police reports.

The impact knocked the man to the ground, police reports say. The assailant jumped in the man’s car and sped off toward the Interstate 90 ramps.

The man was taken to Fairview Hospital, where he was treated for a head injury and released, police reports say.
