Oswalt, Montgomery among 2019 Mississippi HOF class
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Former Major League Baseball All-Star pitcher Roy Oswalt is among six members of the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019.
The other members of the class include successful high school football coach Ricky Black, former Mississippi State football player and coach Rockey Felker, women’s golf standout Cissye Gallagher, NFL running back Wilbert Montgomery and former Ole Miss offensive lineman Richard “Possum” Price.
Oswalt won 163 career games in a career that spanned 13 seasons, mostly with the Houston Astros. He won 20 games in back-to-back seasons in 2004 and ’05 and was an All-Star selection three straight years from 2005-07.
Montgomery played nine seasons in the NFL, including eight with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was a two-time All-Pro selection, running for 1,220 yards in the 1978 and 1,512 in 1979.
The induction ceremony for the class will be in August.
