Apartments damaged in East Pea Ridge fire

March 30, 2019

HUNTINGTON — Three apartments in a 10-unit building are left unlivable after a fire broke out in one of the units just after 5 a.m. Friday at Monica Lynn Apartments in the 6200 block of East Pea Ridge Road in Huntington.

The call came into 911 at 5:13 a.m. Friday. The Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department responded and Spring Valley, Ohio River Road, Ona and Milton fire departments responded for automatic aid and mutual aid.

According to Barboursville VFD Deputy Chief Andrew Frazier, the fire was contained and extinguished in the apartment where the fire originally broke out, but two units directly above and adjacent sustained smoke and water damage.

Frazier said everyone in the building made it out safely. One person was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but it is not suspected to be suspicious.
