Seasonal lull pushes Poland’s jobless higher

December 23, 2013

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Government figures show that Poland’s jobless rate rose to 13.2 percent in November, compared to 13 percent in October.

Poland’s unemployment usually rises in the fall and winter months, when seasonal outdoor jobs close.

The country’s statistics office said Monday that some 2.1 million people including 1.1 million women, were out of work at the end of November. That was almost 41,000 unemployed more from the previous month and around 58,000 higher than November last year.
