Stars 9, Chicks 7 (20 innings)
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) _ James Buccheri had an RBI single in the 20th inning, the first run scored by either team in 14 innings, and Huntsville went on to a 9-7 victory over Memphis in the Southern League on Tuesday night.
The game was suspended on Monday night after 16 innings tied at 6. A league rule prevents the start of an inning after 12:50 a.m.
Lee Tinsley’s run-scoring single in the sixth inning made it 6-6. The Stars and Chicks played three more scoreless innings on Tuesday before Buccheri’s hit.
Buccheri then scored on a singled by Scott Shockey, and losing pitcher Steve Shfflett (5-4) hit Rod Corria to force another run.
Memphis also got a run in the 20th when winner David Zancanaro (3-5) hit Frank Laureano with a pitch and later threw a wild pitch to score him.
However, Darryl Robinson grounded to second to end the game.
