Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society: Mama, an 18-pound, 2-year-old female terrier mix, came to the shelter with a litter of puppies. She was initially a bit standoffish, but since weaning the puppies, she has warmed up and loves people. Noche, an 11-year-old black domestic shorthair female cat, enjoys affection from her fans.

These and other animals are available for adoption from the shelter at 100 Caja del Rio Road. The shelter’s adoption hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Visit adoptable animals in the community during the shelter’s weekend mobile adoption events: noon to 3 p.m., Saturday at Teca Tu in the DeVargas Center and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at PetSmart Santa Fe, 3561 Zafarano Drive. Visit www.sfhumanesociety.org or call 505-983-4309, ext. 1610.

Española Humane: Absolutely adorable Trevor is a 3-month-old male heeler mix who loves people and other dogs. He enjoys playing tug of war, Kong toys and treats. He’s learning to walk on leash and would do well in a puppy class. Sauce, a 14-week-old male cat, is an outgoing lovebug who enjoys affection, scratches under his chin and napping. He has done well with other cats and would do well in a home with another young cat.

These and other animals are available for adoption at the shelter, 108 Hamm Parkway. The shelter is open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Call 505-753-8662 or visit the website at www.evalleyshelter.org.

Felines & Friends: Zena was found starving and emaciated near a Santa Fe grocery store. After being taken in by a volunteer, she was scared at first but warmed up once she knew she was safe. She’s turned into a wonderful cat who will make a perfect companion as an only cat. Colt and his littermates were found abandoned at a Santa Fe mobile home park. All the kittens are sweet and love playing with their siblings. Colt would do well in a home with one of his siblings or another young cat to play with.

Cats of all ages are available for adoption from Felines & Friends; visit them at Teca Tu at the DeVargas Center, Petco on Cerrillos Road and Santa Fe Cats. Adoption advisers are available from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday through Sunday at Petco, noon to 3 p.m. the first Saturday of the month at Teca Tu or by appointment. For more information, call 505-316-CAT1 or visit www.fandfnm.org

The Horse Shelter: Garth, a 3-year-old gelding, has a great personality and has been progressing well in training. He always tries hard to figure things out with the help of his rider. He can trot, walk and lope comfortably. He’ll require an intermediate rider.
