Tri County rallies into B Division finals

Tri County vaulted into the MUDECAS B Division championship with a two set win over Meridian Tuesday night.

The Lady Trojans won 26-24, 25-18 to advance.

They will play in the championship at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday night against the winner of Tuesday’s late game between Southern and Sterling at the Truman Center of the Southeast Community College campus. The Sterling/Southern game was not over by press time Tuesday night.

Meridian drops to a third place game at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday against the loser of Southern/Sterling. That game will also take place at SCC.

Tri County reached Tuesday’s semifinals by defeating Pawnee City in three sets in Monday’s late game 22-25, 25-12, 25-19.

The Lady Trojan’s offensive attack was evenly balanced. Madison Freese had seven kills while Brianna Connelly had six kills and Hannah Holtmeier and Hannah Strein had five kills each. Cassidy Kowalski and Shaylee Niemeyer had three kills each and Taylor Cammack had one kill.

Holtmeier had 16 assists in the match. Strein had five ace serves while Freese and Holtmeier had two ace serves each and Connelly, Niemeyer and Krista Reynolds had one ac serve each.

Defensively, Connelly and Holtmeier had two blocks each while Freese had nine digs.

Pawnee City takes down Parkview

In the B Division consolation bracket, Pawnee City defeated Parkview Christian in straight sets 25-17, 25-10.

With the win, Pawnee City improves to 3-10 on the season and will get one more game in the MUDECAS Tournament on Thursday. They will play in the consolation final at 1 p.m. on Thursday against Johnson County Central at the Truman Center at Southeast Community College.

Parkview Christian falls to 1-5 on the season. They are eliminated from the MUDECAS Tournament.

JCC takes down Lewiston

In the other consolation semifinal of the B Division Tuesday night, Johnson County Central took down Lewiston in straight sets 25-7, 25-14.

With the win, Johnson County Central improves to 3-4 on the season and will get one more game in the MUDECAS Tournament. They will play Pawnee City at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Truman Center on the campus of SCC.

Lewiston falls to 0-10 on the season. They are eliminated from the MUDECAS Tournament.
