Fire leaves DeKalb home uninhabitable

DeKALB – Residents at 2186 Eves Circle West got out safely Wednesday night, after a fire broke out in their home, according to a news release from the DeKalb Fire Department.

Just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters responded and found smoke showing from an open garage door of the woodframe townhouse, and that a fire was inside, according to the release.

A firefighter ended up at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital, and a resident was treated at the scene but declined going to the hospital.

The home was deemed uninhabitable,

The amount of damage and the cause are being investigated, according to the release.

The Cortland, Genoa-Kingston, Malta, Maple Park, Shabbona, and Sycamore fire departments assisted.
