Blue Devils Sneak Past Rival Mountaineers
The Leominster High boys’ volleyball team topped rival Wachusett Regional on Monday, holding on for a 3-2 victory at home.
The Blue Devils (8-1) won by scores of 18-25, 28-26, 25-18, 20-25, 17-15.
Seeley Thao led Leominster with 12 service points, 11 digs, 10 kills and 5 blocks, while Kurt Edmands had 10 service points, 9 kills, 9 blocks and 6 tips. Andrews Annan added 9 service points, including 2 aces, and Eric Jenny chipped in with 9 digs, 8 kills, 8 blocks and 3 aces.
The Blue Devils host South Lancaster this afternoon.

Pat Aubuchon and Justin Marr each had a hit and scored a run for North Middlesex (0-9).
Mitchell Thomann scattered 4 hits and Jacob Fowler drove in a run for the Spartans (5-2).

Patrick Gallager had a pair of hits and an RBI for the Blue Devils (5-5).

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 2-6.

The Blue Knights (1-7) notched their first win behind a pair of hits from Miranda Boulay and an RBI from Emma Marinchev.

The Chieftains also won 13-0 over the Crusaders in a doubleheader.

Lauren Blomgren scored 3 goals to lead the way for the Blue Knights (3-5).
Matt Colbert put in a solid effort for the Chieftains (1-5), but fell in first singles action, 6-4, 6-2.

Juan Rodriguez claimed a third singles win for Fitchburg (1-8), which also won an uncontested second doubles match.

Caleb Amidon won the first singles matching for North Middlesex, claiming a 6-0, 6-2 win over Jack Palaia.

Olivia Catalini, Gabrielle White and Madison Armstrong swept the singles matches for the Red Raiders (6-1), while first-time doubles player Anhthi Iieu paired with Ana Diaz to pick up a doubles win. Lisa Pavan and Rohanji Novas claimed the other doubles victory.
Emma Hakala was the lone winner for the Chieftains (1-4), besting Athena Wu, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 12-10, in first singles.
