Suspect shot in hand during attempted armed robbery
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Virginia police say a suspect was shot in the hand during an attempted armed robbery and was later arrested seeking treatment at a hospital.
The Norfolk Police Department said in a news release that the attempted robbery happened Friday afternoon. Officers say that an armed man tried to rob two people who were walking to their vehicle.
Police say the suspect struck one of the victims, and the victim fought back. During the struggle, the suspect was shot in the hand.
According to the news release, the suspect was later arrested while seeking treatment at a Norfolk hospital.
Rashaad B. Spencer, 43, was charged with attempted robbery and other charges. It wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer, and a phone listing for Spencer was disconnected.
