Troy St. 98, Loyola, N.O. 88

TROY, Ala. (AP) _ Jermaine Ball scored 24 points and 10 rebounds and Jeff Black added 18 points and another 10 boards as Troy State defeated Loyola of New Orleans 98-88 Friday night in its home opener.

The Trojans (4-4) led 51-45 at halftime, but fell behind 58-55 with 16:17 to go. Troy State regained the lead on Black’s jumper, 77-76, with just under eight minutes remaining.

Both teams were hampered by turnovers, with Loyola committing 24 and Troy State doing little better at 20.

The Trojans had the rebounding edge, outdoing Loyola 53-42.

Eric Neal scored 16 points for Troy State and Matt Padgett had 12. Rhodney Donaldson chipped in with 10.

Blake Sanz scored 22 points to lead Loyola. Jarrod Kincaid added 16 and Bryan Rivera had 13.
