How the Dow Jones industrial average did Thursday
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index reached another record high Thursday after the European Central Bank moved to revive the region’s flagging economy. All 10 industries in the S&P 500 crept higher, led by industrial companies and banks.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 98.58 points, or 0.6 percent, to 16,836.11.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 12.58 points, or 0.7 percent, to close at 1,940.46.
The Nasdaq composite gained 44.58 points, or 1.1 percent, to 4,296.23.

The Dow is up 118.94 points, or 0.7 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 16.89 points, or 0.9 percent.
The Nasdaq composite is up 53.61 points, or 1.3 percent.
For the year:
The Dow is up 259.45 points, or 1.6 percent.
The S&P 500 index is up 92.10 points, or 5 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 119.64 points, or 2.9 percent.
