Realtors such as Steve Bland, with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene, consider themselves to be matchmakers and facilitators, not salesmen.

“My buyers are ready to buy a house, so I make sure they have the knowledge and resources to make a sound choice in finding the lifestyle they seek. It’s a good investment,” said Bland.

He helps his sellers make sure that their home is ready to list, and then makes sure interested parties know it’s available.

Bland’s main focus areas include greater Heights, Washington Corridor, and Rice Military.

His focus area is very popular, and inventory can be tight, but great houses come on the market daily.

“I live in Rice Military. I love living and working here, especially since I see my clients at stores or restaurants in the area,” Bland said.

Bland grew up as a military kid and lived all over the country.

“About 30 years ago my sister moved to Houston, my parents followed, and then I moved here. I came here for my family and fell in love with Houston. That was 19 years ago. Interestingly, my mother’s father lived here in the 1920s, and members of my father’s family were here as early as the 1870s,” Bland said.

Bland has been in real estate for the past decade. Prior to real estate, Bland obtained a biology degree, and was a human geneticist, a high school science teacher, and a kaleidoscope maker.

“Science has taught me analytical thinking, my kaleidoscope business taught me aspects of entrepreneurship — especially getting up and getting to work, even when my calendar is open, and I coach and teach my clients about the process,” Bland said.

A client deserves to hear about the process they are embarking on in a way they can understand, and in an interesting and exciting fashion, which Bland provides.

Bland, an award-winning Realtor, is regularly a platinum agent, and last year he was 15th out of 1,100 agents. He is in the top five so far this year.

Bland has also continued his education and holds certificates as a Seller Representative Specialist, Master Certified Negotiation Expert, Graduate Realtor Institute, and Better Homes and Gardens Luxury Specialist.

He is known for being dedicated, loyal, and focused on his clients. One of his strongest skills is interpreting data and merging information that informs clients what is happening in the market, so they know what to expect.
