Three deaths reported in Warrenville house fire Thursday night

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office has identified three individuals who died Thursday night in a fire at their mobile home on Schley Street in Warrenville.

The fatalities have been presumptively identified as Mavis Willard, 80, with her husband, John Willard, 67, and Marvin Kirby, 69, a friend of the couple and resident of the mobile home, said Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.

Aiken County fire crews rushed to the scene after receiving a 911 call around 8 p.m. Thursday, said Capt. Eric Abdullah, with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third victim was rescued and transported to Aiken Regional Medical Centers in serious condition, Carlton said.

The third victim was pronounced dead at 9:49 p.m. Thursday, he said.

Autopsies for all three victims is scheduled for Monday in Newberry, according to the Coroner’s Office.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Arson Team was called in to assist in the investigation of the fire. The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is also working closely with local fire departments in determining the origin and cause of the fire, Abdullah said.
