Blue Jackets Sign Two More Players
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ The Columbus Blue Jackets signed free agent forwards Jonathan Schill and Mathieu Darche on Monday, bringing the number of players under contract with the NHL expansion team to three.
The team signed Niagara University goalie Greg Gardner last week to a contract for next season, the Blue Jackets’ first in the league. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Schill, 20, spent the last four seasons playing major junior hockey with the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League. He had 39 goals and 48 assists for 87 points in 65 games.
Darche, 23, was the Ontario University Athletics Association player of the year and had 33 goals and 49 assists in 38 games in his senior season at McGill University in Montreal.
