Palace manager Warnock fined for misconduct
LONDON (AP) — The English Football Association says it has fined Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock 9,000 pounds ($14,380) for misconduct and warned him about his future conduct following comments made after his side’s 2-1 home defeat to Chelsea on Oct. 18.
The FA alleged that Warnock’s comments “implied the match referee was motivated by bias; and/or brought the game into disrepute.”
Warnock denied the charges but they were proven at a personal hearing.
The Palace manager commented on referee Craig Pawson after Chelsea players surrounded the match official following a foul — which led to a red card for Palace’s Damien Delaney.
Warnock told the BBC “I thought he was influenced today. He had four Chelsea players around him... I think the four lads around him made his mind up for him.”
