NEW YORK (AP) _ As baseball wrapped up its season, the new television season started taking place, as evidenced by a weekly Nielsens list that sported more entertainment shows and few reruns.

The last three games of the five-game World Series joined ''The Cosby Show'' to give NBC the top four spots in the A.C. Nielsen Co. rankings and a substantial victory last week.

But everybody got a share of the top 10, with ABC adding its new sitcom ''Roseanne,'' the highest-rated premiere of an ABC comedy since ''Joanie Loves Chachi'' 6 1/2 years ago.

CBS won the Sunday movie battle and got a top 10 rating from the conclusion of the two-part movie ''Jack the Ripper.''

The final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Oakland A's was the week's highest-rated program with a 26.3 rating and 43 share.

NBC won the week with an average prime-time rating of 18.8 to ABC's 13.9 and CBS' 12.7.

A rating point equals 904,000 homes with televisions. The share is a percentage of sets in use.

The average rating for NBC's coverage of the Series was 23.7, one point higher than the first five games of last year's series between Minnesota and St. Louis.

The top-rated shows of the week were: ''World Series - Game 5,'' ''The Cosby Show,'' ''World Series - Game 3'' and ''World Series - Game 4,'' all on NBC; ''Roseanne'' and ''Who's the Boss?'' ABC; ''NBC Monday Night Movie - Double Standard;'' ''60 Minutes,'' ''CBS Sunday Movie - Jack the Ripper, Part Two'' and ''Murder, She Wrote,'' CBS.

ABC's ''World News Tonight'' and the ''CBS Evening News'' tied for first place in the news category with an average 10.2 and 20 share. ''NBC Nightly News,'' pre-empted by baseball, had an 8.9 and 18.

ABC's limited-run remake of ''Mission Impossible'' made its debut at 24th. NBC's new ''Empty Nest'' was 16th. But ''Something Is Out There,'' based on last season's successful NBC miniseries, ranked only 42nd.

The lowest-rated shows of the week were: ''Bugs Bunny: Battle of the Video Stars,'' ''Wiseguy special,'' ''48 Hours,'' ''Incredible Sunday,'' ''Smothers Brothers Special,'' ''MacGyver,'' ''West 57th,'' ''High Risk,'' ''Live 3/8 Dick Clark Present'' and ''Simon & Simon.''
