ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Marshall Faulk might practice Friday, raising the St. Louis Rams' hopes that he'll be able to play in Monday night's game against Chicago.

Faulk sprained his right ankle and strained a tendon in his left foot in last Sunday's 28-24 win over San Diego. He's questionable for Monday.

Rookie Lamar Gordon will start if Faulk isn't able to play.

Earlier this week, coach Mike Martz said Faulk wouldn't be able to practice until Saturday at the earliest, but on Wednesday he said the running back was getting better.

``He's improved dramatically,'' Martz said, but he added: ``That's up to Marshall. He was talking about maybe doing some work. He's the only one that knows how he feels.''
