South Umpqua’s Scott wins title at Dan Vidlak Invitational
MURPHY — South Umpqua junior Shawn Scott won the 285-pound title in the Dan Vidlak Invitational wrestling tournament on Saturday at Hidden Valley High School.
Scott went 4-0 on the day with four falls, pinning Christopher Woods of Hidden Valley in 3:58 in the championship match.
Placing second for the Lancers were Jackson Markham (152) and David Geyer (220). Markham dropped a 13-4 major decision to Kyle O’Neil of Eagle Point and Geyer was pinned by Dominic Hankins of Mazama in 2:25.
S.U.’s Ashton Stanturf (120) and Cajun Simmons (160) each placed third, and Dale Wells (120), Tanner Wilson (126), Andrew Allen (182) and Samantha Stroud (285) finished fourth.
Eagle Point won the team crown with 362 points, Hidden Valley (247) was second and Mazama (207) third. South Umpqua (120) was sixth.
