Timmonsville linebacker Eaddy suffers severe concussion
MARION, S.C. – Timmonsville inside linebacker TyQuavious Eaddy suffered a severe concussion during Friday night’s 29-6 win at Marion, according to Whirlwinds coach Ronnie Baker.
Baker, who talked with the Morning News early Saturday morning, said Eaddy suffered the concussion while making a tackle.
Eaddy was airlifted from Marion High School to Florence’s McLeod Regional Medical Center, where Baker said he is expected to be for “a couple of days, at least.”
“It was never cardiac arrest,” Baker said, contradicting one of the other reports about Eaddy on Friday night. “He has a severe concussion. He did lost consciousness, but he’s doing better. He’s conscious now. He’s in the intensive care unit, but he’s improving.
“It was no doubt a nightmare,” he added. “He lost consciousness on the sideline. And to see the EMS work on him to revive him, the situation was very stressful. It really was.”
Now, Eaddy will focus on recovery. He was the Whirlwinds’ leading tackler going into the game.
“It’s a relief to know that it’s not life threatening,” Baker said. “Our team and Tyquavious’ family would like to give thanks for everyone’s prayers.”
