HTRS girls roll past Lewiston

December 6, 2018

LEWISTON -- A big first quarter run by the Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer girls led to a convincing win over Lewiston Tuesday night.

The Lady Titans downed Lewiston 61-25 at Lewiston Consolidated High School. It was the first win of the season for the Titans, who are now 1-2.

Lewiston traded blows early with HTRS. The Titans jumped out to a 4-0 lead early after a putback basket from Carissa Allen and another basket by Alyssa Frey.

Lewiston answered with a three pointer by Payton Bledsaw and a jumper by Dana Christen to give the Lady Tigers a 5-4 lead.

HTRS would score the next 15 points to open a 20-4 lead. Allen, who had a game leading 28 points, scored 10 of the 16 points of the run -- mostly in the post position. Katilyn Glathar chipped in the other five points.

Lewiston’s Dana Chen ended the run with a three pointer, but another put back basket by Allen and a three pointer by Delayne Schuster gave HTRS a 24-8 lead after the first quarter.

Chen sparked the Tigers at the beginning of the second quarter with a three pointer to make it 24-11, but a fast break lay-up by HTRS’ Glathar followed by a three pointer by Schuster and two more baskets by Allen re-extended the lead back to 33-11.

HTRS would extend their lead to 41-15 at half time and 57-20 after three quarters, allowing them to coast to the 61-25 win.

In addition to Allen’s 28 points, Glathar had 11 for the Titans while Schuster had eight, Jennabella Vasco had five, Natalie Novak and Alyssa Frey had two each and Matilyn Stalder had one.

Payton Bledsaw had 13 points for Lewiston while Dana Christen and Dana Chen had six points each.

HTRS will be in action again on Friday when they host Lourdes Central Catholic. Lewiston falls to 0-2 and they will travel to College View Academy on Thursday.
