Andrea Barbato, Veteran Italian Journalist, Dies
ROME (AP) _ Andrea Barbato, a journalist who covered President Kennedy’s assassination and the first moon walk for Italian television, has died of heart failure. He was 61.
Barbato’s death on Monday came a few days after heart surgery, RAI state television and radio said.
During a career that began at 22, Barbato also worked as a television anchorman, foreign correspondent and newspaper editor.
Barbato served four years as a deputy for the Communist Party in Italy’s lower house of parliament.
He is survived by his wife, actress Ivana Monti, and two children.
