Another Pittsburgh home evacuated due to landslide

February 27, 2018

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Another Pittsburgh home has been evacuated due to danger from a landslide.

City officials say residents of the home in the Perry North neighborhood were told to leave after a landslide was reported shortly after noon Tuesday.

The department of permits, licenses and inspections ordered the evacuation until the landslide and home can be stabilized. The Red Cross was notified.

A landslide in the Duquesne Heights neighborhood destroyed a home over the weekend, prompted closure of a road and knocked out electricity to adjacent neighborhoods.

City officials said the home was evacuated Friday evening and reported Sunday that the home had been destroyed. The city says the owners were able to retrieve some essential belongings on Saturday.
