Strategic Research Associates purchases historic building for move

October 6, 2018

The historic Duquesne Apartments building has been sold for $325,000.

The 114-year-old brick building on the east end of downtown Spokane at 29 W. Pacific Ave. was purchased by Joanne Vega and Nate Darnell, who also own Strategic Research Associates, a market research company.

Vega said the company, which was founded in 1996, will move to the building and be its sole occupant. A prime reason for the move is the building’s central location and abundance of available parking, she said.

Though the structure has been unoccupied for three years, Vega said there’s just a little remodeling needed in the interior.

Strategic Research Associates has 10 employees who do focus groups and telephone surveys. Vega said much of their time is devoted to helping local companies make “good business decisions.”

Notably, the company worked with the local YMCA, helping with research on location and features when it expands or moves.

Vega said she expects the company to relocate to its new location by Jan. 1.
