No. 20 Iowa women use balance to top Michigan 76-70
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Melissa Dixon scored 12 of her 16 points in the second half and all five starters scored in double figures on Thursday in No. 20 Iowa’s 76-70 win over Michigan.
Samantha Logic had 13 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds for the Hawkeyes (15-3, 6-1 Big Ten), who won their fourth straight and improved to 11-0 at home. Ally Disterhoft added 14 points, Bethany Doolittle 13 and Whitney Jennings 12.
Cyesha Goree had 26 points and 13 rebounds for the Wolverines (12-6, 4-3) and Katelynn Flaherty had 19 points off the bench.
Iowa scored on its first five possessions of the second half for a 46-34 lead. Michigan trailed by 14 but cut the deficit to five on two Goree free throws with 1:46 to go and four on a Siera Thompson 3 with nine seconds left before Doolittle iced it.
Michigan, fifth in the nation shooting 3s at 39.8 percent, was 0-8 in the first half and 5-21 for the game.
