Aulas ready to spend big to keep Lacazette

June 19, 2015

LYON, France (AP) — Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is ready to open his wallet to keep Alexandre Lacazette at the French league runner-up.

Lacazette, the league top-scorer with 27 goals, is reportedly being targeted by other European clubs after a stunning season in which he also provided five assists and earned the player of the year award.

Nurtured by Lyon since he was 10, Lacazette is under contract with the Ligue 1 club until 2018. Aulas says he will make him his No. 1 player if the 24-year-old forward accepts a contract extension.

Aulas, who oversaw Lyon’s rise to the summit of French football in the 2000s, says Lacazette “would receive revenues that should be not less than 4 million euros ($4.5 million) per year.”
