WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Bush plans to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori on March 19, even as the foreign leader struggles with political problems at home, White House officials said Friday.
Mori, who took over as Japan’s prime minister almost a year ago, is under pressure to resign amid a faltering economy and political scandals.
The officials said the meeting would be a working visit. Bush, who met this week with South Korea’s president, has increased his schedule of visits with foreign leaders.
Bush also plans to meet with Chinese Vice Premier Qian Qichen at the White House March 22.
