Woman accused of killing mother, 75, held on $500,000 bail

October 2, 2018

SEATTLE (AP) — A Vancouver woman accused of killing her 75-year-old mother in the home they shared has been ordered held on $500,000 bail.

The Columbian reports that 50-year-old Asenka Miller Wilber appeared in Clark County Superior Court Monday. Prosecutors had sought a higher bail, citing public safety.

Prosecutors say Hardin obtained a restraining order against her daughter last year and filed to renew it. But the order was dropped when neither woman showed up for a court hearing.

According to a probable-cause affidavit, Wilber reportedly told detectives her mother physically abused her throughout her life. Authorities say she told them the two fought last week and that she punched her mother in the head until she stopped moving.

Authorities say Wilber began digging a grave rather than calling 911. They say she went to a neighbor’s house Thursday and reported the death.
