Police Arrest 90-Year-Old Man And Wife For Cocaine Possession

GUAYAMA, Puerto Rico (AP) _ A 90-year-old man and his 70-year-old wife were arrested in southern Puerto Rico after police found $45,000 worth of cocaine and heroin in their home, authorities said.

Judge Lucia Rivera set bail at $45,000 each for Sixto and Otilia Ruiz, who were arrested Saturday. Their granddaughter, Maria Ruiz, 34, also was arrested and charged with violating drug laws and had bail set at $11,000.

Police Capt. O’Neill Gonzalez said officers entered the couple’s home in Salinas, 60 miles south of San Juan, and confiscated $40,000 worth of cocaine, $5,000 worth of heroin and $6,863 in cash.

Gonzalez said the three were jailed after they were unable to post bail.
