Maeda, Furuya share lead
ICHIHARA, Japan (AP) _ Suzuko Maeda and Miki Furuya shared a two-stroke lead at 5-under-par 67 today in the first round of the $437,100 Tohato Ladies golf tournament.
Maeda, winner of the Tokyo Ladies Open in March, scattered six birdies and a bogey over the 6,402-yard, par-72 Oak Village Golf Club course.
Furuya, who has yet to win in three years as a pro, had seven birdies and two bogeys for her best round ever.
Kumiko Hiyoshi and Junko Yoshida had 69, followed by Mayumi Murai, Kiyoe Yamazaki and Kozue Azuma tied for fifth place at 70.
