Authorities: Accident at grain elevator severs parts of man’s leg
On Friday, May 3 at approximately 4:30 p.m. the Power County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of an individual being trapped in a grain auger a McNabb Grain near the Pocatello airport.
The individual was identified as Gator W. Troyer, 41, of Pocatello.
Upon arrival a tourniquet was placed around Troyer’s leg.
With the help of the Pocatello fire rescue, the Chubbuck Fire Department and the Power County Fire Department and the Power County Ambulance, Troyer was able to be removed from the auger approximately an hour and 25 minutes later.
Troyer was transported to Portneuf Medical Center by the Pocatello Ambulance. Shortly after being transported other parts of Troyer’s leg were freed and were transported to the hospital by the Power County Ambulance.
The Power County Sheriff’s Office also wants to take a moment and thank all the participating agencies. To have multiple agencies come together and work together as a team like what happened in this incident is such an asset to our communities and to those who have tragic and life-threatening events in their life happen such as this event.
