BRIDGEPORT — A local man was arrested after police said he sexually assaulted a woman and flailed at a bystander and police after another woman sprayed pepper spray in his face.

Juan Flores, 29, of uncertain address, was charged Wednesday with third-degree sexual assault, third-degree assault, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and interfering with police.

He was being held in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Police said a young woman had pulled her car over on Sanford Place and was bent over, looking in the trunk when Flores approached her, pressed his body against hers and began groping her.

The woman yelled for Flores to get away from her and a female friend got out of the car and sprayed Flores in the face with pepper spray, police said. They said Flores, temporarily blinded by the spray, began banging on the victim’s car and broke the car’s side mirror.

A man walking with his child came upon the scene and police said Flores punched at them as he fled. When officers caught up to Flores they said he began flailing his arms at them and was arrested following a struggle.
