HOUSTON (AP) _ John P. Kelly has been named president and chief executive of Crown Castle International Corp., which operates a network of cellular phone towers and audio and television broadcast transmission systems.

Kelly's appointment is effective Monday. He has been president and chief operating officer.

Kelly replaces Ted B. Miller Jr., a co-founder of the Houston-based company. Miller will remain as a director and non-executive chairman of the board.

The company's board appointed Kelly on Wednesday.

The company said Charles C. Green III, executive vice president of global finance, and George E. Reese, executive vice president of international development, are resigning Oct. 15 to spend more time with their families and to pursue other opportunities.
