October Student of the Month: Madison Nicole Seggebruch

Madison Nicole Seggebruch, 17, of Dixon, is Dixon High School’s October Student of the Month. Her parents are Brent and Susan Seggebruch, and she has three siblings, Spencer, Syndey and Quentin.

Favorite class: AP Spanish this year, but overall AP U.S. History, I’ve always like history and loved my teacher, Dave Stanley.

Least-favorite class: AP calculus. I’m just not a big math person, but I need to take it or I’ll be lost in college.

Favorite teacher: Dave Stanley or Wendy Fitzanko.

School activities in which you participate: Cheerleading, theater, band, and madrigals.

Civic, church, volunteer or activities in which you participate: I volunteer and participate in youth group at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church. I also help the United Way, Shining Star, Day of Caring, and many more organizations through cheerleading.

Do you have a job? I’m in the Dixon Municipal Band in the summer.

How would you describe your group of friends? We put each other’s needs before our own and always support each other.

What will you do after high school? Possibly major in anthropology at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a minor in Spanish.

What is something you learned in high school that you think you’ll never use? The chain rule, It’s in calculus with derivatives, I don’t think I’ll be doing derivatives.

If you could change one thing about your school, what would it be? It would be nice if we had assigned parking again, because I was looking forward to it junior year and then they took it away.

What do you do in your free time, outside of school activities? I enjoy reading when I have time.

What’s one thing in your life you can’t do without? My friends and family.

What kind of music are you listening to? Broadway cast recordings or alternative albums.

What scares you? Failure, and the thought of tripping up cement stairs and knocking my teeth out.

If you could try any job for the day, what would it be? I think it would be amazing to be an actor on Broadway.

If you could go anywhere in the world for free, where would it be? Greece or Spain.

What is your favorite childhood memory? I always loved little dress-up and fashion shows when I was a kid, so any one of those times having fashion shows at my house with friends.

What is the best way to cheer you up? Jokes, if it’s got a good punchline, that will do it

Do you think you will be the same person 10 years from now? No, I definitely think I’ll grow in college, more independent. I’ve even seen myself grow in high school, and think I’ll be more mature.

What is your life’s philosophy? Always persist through the rough times, because you will learn something from each hard situation you are placed in.

Is there anything else you want people to know about you? I can twitch each of my eyes. I think it’s fun because it creeps out some people.
