Two Dead in Shooting; Others Injured
PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Two people were killed and two others were injured in a shooting around midnight in South Philadelphia, police said.
A suspect who barricaded himself inside a row house was taken into custody around 2 a.m. today, said police spokesman Detective Ed Tenuto. His name had not been released by mid-morning.
Police were still sorting out details of what happened, said Officer Robert Young. He said it apparently stemmed from an argument between the man in custody and one or more of the victims.
Bodies of the two men were found in Dickinson Street. Two guns were recovered.
The dead men were identified as Michael Ransome, 30, who was shot in the stomach, and Francis Thorpe, 25, who was shot in the chest.
Eric Robinson, 23, was wounded in the arm and John Haynes, 30, was shot in the thigh, Young said. All were from Philadelphia.
The shooting occurred in a residential neighborhood at the intersection of Mole and Dickinson streets. Early reports indicated a gunman shot the victims from a rooftop, before running inside a three-story row house on Dickinson Street.
″We believe there was an exchange of gunfire,″ Tenuto said.
