State police say traffic fatalities down so far in 2019
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Vermont State Police say traffic fatalities are down so far this year.
WCAX-TV reports 11 people have died in traffic accidents in Vermont through the first half of 2019.
That compares with 27 people in that same time period in 2018.
Vermont saw 44 deaths in 2014, which was a 50-year low at the time.
Vermont State Police Trooper Adam Marchand says traffic always picks up around the holidays. Police say cracking down on impaired driving and speeding is a big focus for them particularly on July 4.
