Cadets, benevolent association treat seniors to lunch

January 5, 2019

For the second year in a row, more than 100 seniors at the Fox Valley Community Center in Sandwich celebrated the holidays with a party where they were treated to a meal by the Sandwich Police Cadets and Benevolent Association.

Becky Lueken, activities director at FVOAS, arranged for the Sandwich High School Madrigal Singers to perform during the party.

The center is a nutrition site of Voluntary Action Center, which serves a congregate meal and Meals On Wheels at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday under the direction of Sallie Craig. There is a suggested $4 donation for the daily lunch and a $6 suggested donation for special lunch parties. All donations are anonymous. No one is ever turned away because of inability to pay.

Through their partnership, FVOAS and VAC, offer residents of DeKalb, Kane, Kendall and LaSalle counties active adult activities at the senior center, adult day service and home services, including 24/7 Private Home services.

For information on services, fun lunches and new programs, call 815-786-9404 or stop by the Fox Valley Community Center at 1406 Suydam Road in Sandwich for a tour.
