Hot Property Turn-key cape colonial offers architectural, design details

January 29, 2019

The four-bedroom cape colonial at 52 Pecksland Road was listed for sale in late December 2018. Lilian Fong of Park Allyn Realty is representing the sellers. The asking price is $2.7 million.

The current owners acquired the property in 2011.

“We immediately loved the property and privacy the home offered,” the seller recalled. “It had a great patio for entertaining and a great front yard for play. It also had a first-floor master, which we appreciated. The large, open kitchen was a major plus when we looked at this home, as well.”

With more than 4,600 square feet of living space and a blend of formal and casual interior rooms, the house is both turnkey and yet affords some flexibility in how the rooms are leveraged.

Over the course of their time here, the sellers have made a number of improvements to the property - among them, a new roof, a new seven-zone boiler and hot water heater. The interior and exterior of the home got fresh coats of paint. New wallpaper was chosen. The home office received a beautiful and big bay window.

“We created a second-floor master suite,” the seller noted. “The three bathrooms were renovated with tile, onyx and marble. All new fixtures were places, as well.”

The second-level master is a second master option; there’s also one on the first level.

In addition to adding recessed lighting throughout the interiors, the homeowners also added exterior lighting for ambiance and practical purposes.

The patio off the rear of the home proved invaluable during the spring and summer months, especially when the family entertained.

“We have celebrated summer birthdays and had many barbecues with friends,” the seller said. “The house allows for easy indoor and outdoor entertainment via the French doors off the dining room and living room. The large dining room allowed us to host Thanksgiving for our extended family for the first time last year. We had enough space for everyone.”

The new inhabitants of this home may also appreciate the 1.88-acre lot, its private setting and its neighborhood perspective.

“Pecksland Road is a beautiful street that contains many beautiful homes and wonderfully landscaped properties,” the homeowner said. “It is convenient to town, but private at the same time.”

One of the perks of living in this neighborhood of Greenwich is convenient proximity to local schools, including Glenville Elementary. The owner of 52 Pecksland Road had this to say of the school experience: “We have been very satisfied with our experience at Glenville Elementary. The school has excellent leadership, and our children have been happy and well educated. They have focused not only on the academics of the core curriculum, but have coursework related to the arts, music and physical fitness. The elementary school is also a brand new … building, with state-of-the-art classrooms and equipment.”

The location of the property is also noteworthy. It affords an easy commute to New York City and Westchester County, New York. There’s an abundance of nearby restaurants, attractions and things to do.

“Due to our proximity to Glenville, we have enjoyed being a few minutes’ drive to the local supermarket, Post Office and park for play,” the seller said. “We are also very close to Greenwich Avenue and it has to offer.”
