NY woman found guilty of manslaughter in boss’s death
UTICA, N.Y. (AP) — A jury has found an upstate New York woman guilty of first-degree manslaughter for the poisoning death of her boss in 2015.
After two days of deliberation, an Oneida County Court jury found 24-year-old Kaitlyn Conley, of Sauquoit (suh-QWOYT’), not guilty of the more serious charge of second-degree murder.
She was accused in the death of 60-year-old Mary Yoder. Prosecutors say Conley was a receptionist in the chiropractic office in Whitesboro that was run by Yoder and her husband. Authorities say Conley obtained an anti-inflammatory drug and used it to poison Yoder.
Conley’s lawyer Frank Policelli said prosecutors failed to prove Conley poisoned Yoder. He said he believes the verdict will be reversed on appeal.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 11.
