Area Fall postseason awards
Aquinas’ softball player senior Sierra Meysenburg has been selected First-Team All-State by the Lincoln Journal Star. Meysenberg’s honor makes history as the first first-team all-state player in program history.
She put together a season that finished with a .422 batting average, 47 RBIs and 11 Home Runs.
Seniors Vanessa Bohuslavsky and Valerie Bohuslavsky were also honored with Honorable Mention All-State awards
“They are a great group of girls that brought much more than softball skills to our team,” said head coach Paul Gahan in comments sent to the Banner-Press. “Vanessa Bohuslavsky, Valerie Bohuslavsky and Sierra Meysenburg (along with the other senior players) brought a genuine competitive drive, as well as a sense of team spirit & chemistry.
Mysenburg was successful on 43 of her 102 batting attempts throughout the season.
“Sierra Meysenburg is a great combination of speed and power,” Gahan said. “Offensively, she hit for power and average. Defensively, excellent range roaming center field.”
Vanessa Bohuslavsky had a batting average of .484 with 46 hits, 34 RBI and five home runs.
“Vanessa Bohuslavsky is a great leader,” Gahan said. “Excellent all around player. Hit for power and average. A very unselfish player and a true team player.”
She also compiled a 19-4 pitching record.
Valerie Bohuslavsky had a .542 batting average with 36 RBI and three home runs.
“Valerie Bohuslavsky is a great competitor,” Gahan said. “Hit for power and average. Developed into an outstanding defensive catcher.”
Gahan said he was happy to be able to have coached them.
“Sierra, Vanessa and Valerie were all very productive softball players that set multiple school records,” Gahan said. “I consider myself blessed to have had the opportunity to serve as their coach.”
