St. Joseph’s 71, No. 13 Virginia 56
PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Robyne Bostic scored a career-high 23 points and Audrey Codner added 16, including the 1,000th point of her career, as St. Joseph’s upset No. 13 Virginia on Thursday night.
St. Joe’s opened up an early 18-9 lead by midway through the first half, but the Cavaliers closed it to 27-26 as Wendy Palmer’s layup ended the period.
Palmer, who finished with 14 points and 15 rebounds, began the second half with a field goal to give Virginia its only lead. St. Joseph’s then went on a 10-1 run to take a 37-29 lead.
The Hawks built the lead to 51-37 on a Tracy Harmon trey at the 8:52 mark. From there, Virginia got no closer than nine.
Virginia’s 56 points were the most scored against St. Joseph’s all season. The Hawks began the game allowing only 46.4 points a contest - tops among Division I teams.
