Janice Helquist Choate

Our beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister and daughter, Janice Lenice Helquist Choate, unexpectedly passed away on October 8, 2018 at her home in Spanish Fork, Utah.

She graduated from Springville High School in 1972 and then attended beauty college. She was a beautician for five years before she was able to stay home and raise her family.

She married her sweetheart, Brent Leon Choate, on July 9, 1971. Together they had three children, Alicia Jill Baum (Steven), Leslee Ann Sokoloff (Jayson), and Daniel Brent Choate (Mandy). Her greatest joy in life was being with her five grandchildren, Taylor, Syd, Jayce, Addy, and Talon.

She loved being outdoors, camping with her family, hunting for arrowheads, crocheting animals or blankets for her grandchildren, and always cheering for her Denver Broncos.

She is survived by her husband Brent Choate; her three children, Alecia Jill (Steven) Baum, Leslee Ann (Jayson) Sokoloff, Daniel Brent (Mandy) Choate, and her five grandchildren Taylor (Wyatt) Peay, Sydney Choate, Jayce Sokoloff, and Addison and Talon Choate. She is also survived by her four siblings, Douglas Clyde (Becky) Helquist, Lennis Ranae (Jeff) Day, Sherry Karen (Steve) Young, Laurie K (Brent) Christiansen, Steve (Larene) Choate, and her mother-in-law, Beverly Farreta.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Lennis Helquist; father-in-law, Leon Choate, and a brother-in-law, Wayne Choate.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Spanish Fork South Stake Center Chapel, 870 E. Canyon Road, Spanish Fork, Utah. Friends and family can attend a viewing on Thursday evening, October 11, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the church and on Friday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
