1 killed, 2 injured in Boise shooting
BOISE — Boise police are investigating a shooting from Sunday night that left one woman dead and two other victims injured.
Boise police found three victims outside a residence near Palouse Street and South Owyhee Street at midnight after responding to a reported shooting.
Three victims — one man and two women — were taken to a local hospital. One of those women has since died from her injuries, according to police.
Multiple suspects fled the scene before authorities arrived, according to police. Police are working to identify and find the suspects.
T.J. Jakush, who lives in the block where the shooting happened, was among those who called the police, just about midnight. He had just gotten home from work, he said, when he heard the shots — between four and five of them, he estimated. He checked on his child, who lives in the home with him, and then he decided to call the police.
He could hear a woman screaming from the crime scene as he did, he remembered.
Nor was he the only person to call 911 — his neighbors had already called minutes before, he said.
He remembers less serious disturbances in the area in the past, he said. But nothing like this had happened before on South Arcadia Street, where he and wife Katie Jakush live.
That block was just coming alive by about 8:30 a.m. Monday morning. As a cluster of police officers stood in an alley at the scene of the shooting cordoned off by yellow police tape, children stepped outside homes on the block, headed for Whitney Elementary School, just a block to the north.
