TOPEKA, Kan. — A delegation from the Chicago-based Japanese consulate met with Gov. Jeff Colyer last month in hopes of strengthening business relations and to encourage Kansas to rejoin an alliance between Japan and regional states. Gov. Sam Brownback withdrew Kansas from the alliance. Consul general Naoki Ito said by rejoining the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association Kansas could raise the profile of the state’s image, showcase its business and attract investors to create jobs.” UPCOMING: 300 words.
Living Wage Registry-Lawrence
LAWRENCE, Kan. — Lawrence officials are interested in creating a voluntary registry that would inform the public which businesses in Lawrence pay a living wage. The idea of a voluntary living wage registry was brought to the Lawrence City Commission last week. It’s patterned on a similar registry started recently in nearby Kansas City, Missouri. They idea is to help the public know which jobs could help them afford a basic quality of life. UPCOMING: 300 words
