PLASTIC BAG FEE

TRENTON — New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Monday rejected legislation imposing a 5-cent fee on plastic carry-out bags and instead called for a "more robust and comprehensive" way to keep them out of the environment. The freshman Democratic governor announced the veto Monday in a statement after news of the coming veto emerged during a hearing on plastic waste last week. Murphy says the fee doesn't go far enough to reduce the prevalence of plastic bags that can mar the state's shoreline and clog city sewers. By Mike Catalini. SENT: 372 words.

TAX PACT

TRENTON — New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy has vetoed legislation that would have made it more difficult for the state's governor to end a tax reciprocity agreement with Pennsylvania. The Democratic governor rejected the measure Monday. It would have required a separate law to be enacted to terminate the reciprocity deal. NEW YORK — The Associated Press has named an experienced photo manager and a longtime news editor to leadership roles guiding its coverage of the northeastern United States. Peter Morgan, the photo editor for New York and New Jersey, will take over as AP's East Region deputy news director for storytelling and photos. PARAMUS — The Associated Press has learned the PGA Tour is putting the final touches on a revamped FedEx Cup for next year. Five people aware of the discussions tell the AP a cash bonus would be awarded to the player leading the FedEx Cup after the regular season.
