DUQUESNE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say the driver of a stolen SUV ran off while the vehicle was still in gear, causing it to roll back into and damage a police car.

A Duquesne officer on patrol passed the vehicle around 8:20 p.m. Sunday. Authorities say the driver appeared to be impaired and soon turned into an alley.

The officer found the SUV a short time later and started to approach it. When the driver got out, the SUV began rolling backward and struck the rear passenger side of the police car, causing undisclosed damage.

The driver fled the scene and remains at large.
