Wis.-La Crosse 14, Drake 7

LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) _ Craig Kusick hit Jeremy Earp with a 35-yard touchdown pass late in the second quarter to help Wisconsin-La Crosse to a 14-7 win Saturday over Drake.

La Crosse (3-0) running back Trevor Rogers opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, capping an 11-play, 87-yard drive.

Drake (1-1-1) responded with a 24-yard Chad Heying touchdown reception, but the Earp pass clinched the game for La Crosse. The second half was scoreless.

Drake quarterback Roy Fletcher left the game at 10:38 of the third quarter with a concussion, having completed 7 of 18 passes for 74 yards and the touchdown to Heying. The Bulldogs rushed for 74 yards.

La Crosse’s Andy Alvis had 15 tackles, including three for losses.

Rogers finished with 76 yards on 18 carries. Earp caught two passes for 44 yards. Troy Harcey caught six for 81 yards and Jason Tarkowski four for 89 yards.

Kusick was 17-for-30 passing for 291 yards and was twice intercepted.
