Answer Man: Rochester anchor covered Mississippi murder
Answer Man: We have a challenge for you. On Sept. 15, we watched a program on the Charter cable channel OXGN-14 called “Unspeakable Crime: The Killing of Jessica Chambers.” It was about a 19-year-old girl burned alive in December 2014 in Cortland, Miss.
Real newscast footage was used during the show, and one of the reporters in the footage looked and sounded just like Caitlin Alexander, the new KTTC news anchor here in Rochester. We watched the show again the next day and are 100 percent sure that it is Caitlin Alexander.
With all the knowledge you have, you’ll know if I am right in saying it is her.
There is a $100 bet riding on your answer. Thanks for your help! — Hoping for $100.
Dear Hoping: I hope you are prepared to split the winnings with me because you are correct. Before joining the team at KTTC in 2016, Caitlin Alexander worked for WREG-3 in Memphis from August 2014 to August 2016. Courtland is less than 70 miles from Memphis, and Caitlin covered much of the murder and trial. You can find her byline on WREG-3’s website with more coverage of the case that was not included in Oxygen’s program as well as other stories she covered. Caitlin said she didn’t know any of her reports were included in the program until her in-laws told her.
Enjoy the money and feel free to send my share of the winnings to Answer Man at Post Bulletin, 18 First Ave. SE, PO Box 6118, Rochester, MN 55903-6118. I might even share some of it with Caitlin.
