NEW YORK (AP) _ Mike Tyson's oft-postponed heavyweight championship title defense against Britain's Frank Bruno will not take place place Jan. 14, and may be put off until at least March, according to a published report.

The New York Daily News, in Wednesday's editions, reported that neither Tyson's promoter, Don King, nor his manager, Bill Cayton - who are battling over future fight plans - showed up for a meeting Tuesday in New York.

The latest development left HBO executives believing the fight will not go on as scheduled Jan. 14. The cable network has the rights to the fight.

''The sands have run out,'' the newspaper quoted Seth Abraham, head of HBO sports, as saying.
