Leo Casey was born on Oct. 31, 1932, to William Bernard and Emma (McIntyre) Casey in the Ponca-Jackson area. He was baptized at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jackson. They lived near the Ponca-Obert area before moving to Wayne. When Leo’s mother died, he stayed with the Beeks family in Wayne. They became family to him in so many ways.

Leo married the love of his life, Janice Loeb, at the Carroll Catholic Church on Dec. 27, 1956. They farmed by Carroll and Belden, then moved to Sioux City. Janice and Leo then moved to Laurel, where Leo started his own business — Casey Roofing Company — in 1964.

Leo also restored and built new houses in Laurel. On weekends, he kept busy in another business, the Randolph Ballroom, for 32 years. He and Janice met many wonderful people during these years.
